Fred F. Boykin, MSW, LICSW has extensive experience with issues relating to illness, men’s issues, sexuality, HIV/AIDS, addictions and mind/body/spirit balancing.  He is a certified teacher and supervisor of the Enneagram, a spiritual and psychological tool that he uses in his psychotherapy practice.  He graduated from Smith College School of Social Work and worked ten years at the National Institutes of Health in its Allergy and Infectious Disease Institute.  He was a CPS associate for nine years before becoming a partner in 2000.

 

 

Anne Burrows, MSW, LICSW is a Board Certified Diplomate in clinical social work (BCD) and a co-founder of CPS. She practices psychodynamic psychotherapy work with a cultural sensitivity acquired from her previous residence in Europe, Africa and Asia, her experience as a staff therapist with the DC Institute of Mental Health in Annacostia, and her pro-bono work as chair of a committee of volunteers at the World Bank assisting international spouses and their families in their acculturation process. Ms Burrows has had 20 years of experience in working both with individuals and with couples and families. She also has extensive experience in guiding clients in their parenting skills and incorporates the benefits of insight meditation and mindfulness into her work. Ms Burrows received her MSW from the University of Maryland, is a graduate of the Washington School of Psychiatry’s Advanced Psychotherapy Training Program, and trained with the International Institute for the Advancement of Analytical Psychology, Psychoanalysis and Developmental Studies. She is also registered as a psychoanalytical psychotherapist by the National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis (NAAP).

 

 

Amy Scott, MSW is a co-founder of CPS, where she provides supervision and psychotherapy. She is also the coordinator for the Montgomery County chapter of the Stepfamily Association of America and writes and presents about step couples and has been a  guest on NPR's "Public Interest"  show on stepfamilies. She was previously clinical administrator for the Women's Medical Center and EAP director for Northern Virginia Family Services. She is a 10-year member of the Washington School of Psychiatry's study group on women and psychodynamic psychotherapy. Ms. Scott is a graduate of the Washington School's advanced group psychotherapy program and American University's affiliate program for advanced training in psychodynamic psychotherapy. She holds an MSW from Smith College is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Franklin & Marshall College and has an MS in writing and social change issues from Boston University.

 

 

Kevin W. Popp, Psy. D.  Dr. Popp is a Clinical Psychologist with several years of post-graduate training in the art and science of psychotherapy.  He is comfortable working with a wide range of client difficulties such as depression and anxiety, with a specialty in relationship issues.  He is co-director of a local program of academic scholars studying psychotherapy, and is involved in both teaching and supervising of clinical psychology students in training in local universities.  He is currently in psychoanalytic training at the Washington Psychoanalytic Institute.

April Gates, MSW, LICSW, received her Masters from The National Catholic School of Social Service.  She has worked at The National Institutes of Health and at Children's National Medical Center, where she counseled adolescents and adults with cancer and other illnesses.  Her areas of expertise include chronic illness, grief and loss.  She works with both adolescents and adults, both individually, in couples, families and groups.  She is fluent in both English and Spanish.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Elizabeth Rankin, MSW, LICSW graduated from Catholic University’s School of Social Work with a concentration in family counseling.  She did post-graduate training at the Family Therapy Practice Center, in Washington, DC, under the supervision of Maryanne Walters, LCSW.  She received live supervision in family and individual therapy there.  She has extensive experience in working with trauma survivors and their families.  Ms. Rankin worked at Chestnut Lodge Hospital for nine years in the adult outpatient program. As part of the treatment team, she provided family and individual counseling.

 

 

 

Terry Hopkins, MSW, LICSW, provides psychotherapy for individuals and couples.  She has been with the CPS group practice since 1993 providing treatment for depression, anxiety, eating disorders, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, stress reactions, and life-adjustment problems.  She completed psychodynamic training at American University’s Student Counseling Center, earned her MSW from The Catholic University of America, and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.

 

 

 

Carolina Daccarett, MSW, LICSW, received her Masters of Social Work degree from Catholic University of America.  She is a Fulbright Scholar and a Diplomat of the Washington School of Psychiatry, where she completed training in Dynamics and in Advanced Psychotherapy. She is currently enrolled in the PhD program at the Clinical Social Work Institute in Washington, D.C.  Ms. Daccarett has extensive experience in working with individuals, groups and families.  She is currently a social work supervisor with the D.C. Government's Child and Family Services Agency, where she has worked with the families of abused and neglected children for the past several years. Ms. Daccarett has also worked with individuals and families coping with cancer and other illnesses.  She is a native of Honduras, is fluent in English and Spanish and is culturally sensitive, having lived, worked and studied in Europe and the United States for the past 20 years.

 

 

 

Adrienne R. Polster, MSW, LICSW, comes to CPS with broad experience in severe chronic mental health disorders.  Presently, she is concentrating on helping those with depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive and eating disorders.  She treats adolescents and adults. She has an interest in individual, couple and family work. She received her master's of social work from the University of Maryland in Baltimore.

 

   

Eileen Ivey, MSW, LICSW, is a psychodynamically-oriented psychotherapist with extensive experience providing individual and couples therapy. Areas of specialization include women’s issues, depression, self-esteem and reproductive issues, including infertility and adoption. Viewing therapy as a collaborative, collegial process, Ms Ivey works to provide a safe and respectful atmosphere in which self-reflection and problem-solving can flourish. She is a graduate of Smith College School for Social Work. She was coordinator of the Affiliate Program (a post-graduate training program in psychodynamic psychotherapy) at the Center for Psychological and Learning Services at the American University from 1982 to 1986. She has been in private practice since 1986 and with CPS since 2001.
